In-service training-programs for teachers of German language in Hungary after the political change

(the PhD.-work is supported by the Hungarian institution "Országos Közoktatási Intézet Pedagógus-továbbképzési Iroda" in Veszprém and from the Departement federal dals affairs externs}

Aims of the project:

  • to analyse in-service training-programs for teachers of German language in Hungary since 1989 organised by German, Austrian, Swiss and Hungarian institutions
  • to make an inventory about the programs, contents, courses and institutions from Hungary and from abroad
  • to evaluate long-term-projects which aimed at the formation of teacher-trainers for teachers of German language (wbz-cps project in Hungary 1990-1998, teacher trainer projects of the Goethe Institut and other teacher trainer projects realised by Hungarian, Austrian, German and Swiss institutions)

Parts /work carried out in Hungary

  • to collect informations about all courses and scholarships for German Teachers since 1989
  • to make an analysis about the situation of teacher trainers in Hungary (questionnaire)
  • to make interviews with a sample of teacher trainers, headmasters, directors of Hungarian pedagogical institutions, members of the staff from Ministry of Education, from Austrian, German, Swiss and Hungarian institutions (KulturKontakt Austria-BMBWK, Goethe Institut, WBZ, OKI PTI)

Parts /work carried out in Switzerland 2001- two months – only about the evaluation of the wbz-cps project in Hungary 1990-1998:

  • to do research in the WBZ-Archiv and some libraries in Switzerland
  • to speak with Swiss trainers, who have worked in Hungary for a long time, with the project management 1990-1996, with the director(s) of the wbz-cps, with members of the staff from DEZA-DDC
