General objective
Elaboration and dissemination of a robust and user-friendly decision support tool for public research managers in developing countries.
Specific objectives
- Increasing the utility of the analytic hierarchy process as decision support tool by improving group decisions making processes.
- Strengthening the decision framework by further integrating relevant research evaluation concepts.
- Carrying out pilot applications of the AHP based approach in biotechnology programs by means of two case studies and adjusting it as necessary.
- Improving the applicability of the tool by developing and employing training and teaching materials for the involved institutions.
Expected Output
- A transparent and participatory approach to support allocation decisions for biotechnology programs in NARS.
- Training manuals to assist research managers in applying the tool to deal with complex decision problems.
- Workshops for the involved institutions and various documents such as teaching material, a research report, and two journal articles in order to facilitate the dessemination of the decision support tool.
