Programme de bourses "Echanges Universitaires"
Mining: from the field, to mine waste management, via the extraction process Under the topic "Sustainability in Mining: from the field, to mine waste management, via the extraction process." an international course sponsored by KPPE, UNECO, SEG, and SGA will take place from 11th to 20 October 2010 in Concepción Chile. Main Topics are "Acid Rock and Mining Drainage", "Characteristics of primary ore (hypogene and supergene) and of supergene enrichment in selected ore deposits", "Geomicrobiology and its role in sulfide oxidation", "Bioleaching in heap leach operations", "Biolixivation in reactor operations and selective metal recovery". The main instructors are: Dr. D. Kirk Nordstrom, USGS, Boulder, EE.UU., Dr. Barrie Johnson, University of Wales, UK, Dr. Lluis Fontboté, University of Geneva, Switzerland and Dr. Bernhard Dold, Universdad de Concepción, Chile. The course is open to geologists, mining engineers, metalurgists and other professionals interested on mine waste management . Students, academics and young professionals may apply for partial travel support.
